Vape Shop Owner charged with Sales to Minors

As a result of anonymous complaints of sales of Vaping products to minors, the West Milford Police Department Detective Bureau conducted surveillance at several locations throughout the township.

On Feb. 25, after school hours surveillance was conducted at Vape Lite 24 Marshall Hill Road.

Within minutes of setting up surveillance several juveniles were observed entering the business.

After a short period of time the juveniles exited the store holding items.

Detectives immediately conducted an investigation and determined the juveniles had purchased vaping products and were not asked for age verification by the business owner.

Detectives seized the items as they were unlawful for the juveniles to purchase and released the juveniles.

Detectives then entered the business and spoke to owner, Paul Aiazzone.

Aiazzone admitted to selling to the juveniles and admitted to not asking for identification as required by law.

He was issued a summons for sales of tobacco products to Minors with an initial appearance of March 5 in West Milford Municipal Court.

After issuing the summons, Detectives resumed surveillance and again within a short time frame additional juveniles from West Milford and from Warwick, New York, entered the business attempting to make purchases.

After exiting these juveniles were again investigated by Detectives but stated they were asked for ID and denied service.

All the juveniles were advised not to return to any vape shop in West Milford.

These enforcement activities will continue throughout West Milford.
