Cienki has strong pitching season

WEST MILFORD. Keystone College junior Courtney Cienki, who graduated from West Milford High School, was Honorable Mention All Colonial States Athletic Conference this year.

Courtney Cienki, a graduate of West Milford High School, was a junior pitcher for the softball team at Keystone College in La Plume, Pa., this season.

She appeared in 18 games as a pitcher and started in 14 of them, with five wins as well as a team high 93 strikeouts for Keystone.

Cienki was Honorable Mention All Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) this year.

The Giants won 10 games, with five victories at home. In the CSAC, they went 9-7. They advanced to the CSAC Championships, where they were defeated by Wilson College in a contest in Allentown, Pa.

Cienki is listed as a Psychology major.

Here’s how other West Milford graduates did in college sports this spring:

• Christian Aiello was a freshman pitcher for the baseball team at Rider University in Lawrence. He appeared in 23 games and had a pitching record of 1-1 with two saves for Rider. He struck out 39 batters this year.

The Broncs tallied an overall record of 36-21, with a mark of 10-5 on their home field. In the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), they went 14-7.

Rider won the MAAC Tournament with triumphs over Quinnipiac University and Fairfield University (twice) in games in Pomona, N.Y.

From there, the Broncs competed in an NCAA Division 1 World Series Regional hosted by Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. They went 1-2 with a triumph over Coastal Carolina University and losses to Coastal Carolina and Duke. Aiello struck out four batters at the Regionals.

• Kevin Bramley and Tanner Christie were members of the track and field team at Ramapo College in Mahwah. Bramley, a sophomore, was a distance runner. Christie, a freshman, was a competitor in throws.

The Roadrunners placed fifth in the team scoring at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, held in Mahwah.

• Kyle Bednarski was a freshman right-handed pitcher for the baseball team at Felician University in Rutherford. He appeared in eight games and struck out eight batters.

The Golden Falcons posted 25 overall wins with nine victories on their home field. In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), they went 13-12.

They won the CACC Baseball Championship Tournament, going 4-1 in the tournament. From there, Felician advanced to the NCAA Division 2 East Region 2 Tournament in Newark, Del., where the team went 0-2.

Bednarski is listed as a business administration major.
