Sparta A popular variety show by the parishioners of Blessed Kateri will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17. The “Kateri Kapers” will be performing along with live music by Equinox, joined by special guest Chris Arnold on trumpet. Past years of the event have included singing nuns, singing dogs as well as a local version of “The Village People.” Singers will entertain with blues, swing, country, and music from the 1960’s through the 1980’s. The parish community of the church’s variety show is now in it’s fourth season. “Every year some new talent emerges at Blessed Kateri, and we are blessed to be able to share it with the community,” saidPat O’Malley, Blessed Kateri parishioner and producer of the “BK Kapers.” This year’s show is dedicated to the memory of Lu Cerciello of Oak Ridge. Cerciello was a parishioner of Blessed Kateri and an integral part of “Kateri Kapers” since its inception, as a committee member and performer. “This year, as in past years, the point of Kapers is all about community n the real goal of the show is to bring everyone together for a good time n and I know we will do that!” said O’Malley. Home-baked goods, snacks, coffee and tea will be provided throughout the evening. Bring-your-own-bottle. There will be door prizes donated by local merchants, and a 50/50 raffle both nights. The event will be held at Reverend Brown Elementary School, McKenna Hall Auditorium, in Sparta. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. For reservations or more information contact Pat O’Malley at 973-729-2660 or the Blessed Kateri Parish office at 973-729-1682. Adults over 21 only.
