Newton —The Sussex County Library System has launched “Books for Kids” book donation drive. Give a child the gift of reading by donating a new book to your library branch. Books for children from pre-school through young adult are needed. Started in 1991, “Books for Kids” is a statewide program sponsored by the New Jersey Library Association’s Children’s Services Section. This program is undertaken with the hope that all children will be able to experience the joy of reading books of their very own. Each year, with the help of over 200 libraries, thousands of books are distributed to children across the state. Book donations will be accepted through Dec. 10 at all the Sussex County Library branches. The books will be distributed to organizations serving Sussex County such as NORWESCAP, Inc., Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention Services, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Project Self Sufficiency, Pass It Along and Sussex Headstart. For more information, contact Debbie Jack at the Sussex County Main Library at 973-948-3660.
