Warwick, N.Y. The Illustrious Theatre Company has announced auditions for its upcoming outdoor summer production of “The Two Gentlemen of Verona,” marking the fourth season of the company’s Shakespeare in the Orchard series at the Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery. Shakespeare’s comedy has something for everyone: two best friends on an adventure at court, their girlfriends, a feisty handmaiden to one of the ladies, two hilarious servants, stern fathers, a jealous suitor, a band of outlaws and their heroic leader; even a cantankerous dog named “Crab”! The play will be set in the early 1700s, with “three-musketeer style” costumes and extravagant gowns for the ladies. The cast includes the two gentlemen (late teens to 20s), eight male roles (20s to 50s), three female roles (teens to early 20s) and a band of outlaws. Crab, the dog, has been pre-cast. Auditions, which will consist of readings from the script, will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 and at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18, at the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway, Warwick. Callbacks will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. If above listed times are not convenient, contact the director, Mary Clifford at 973-764-4936. Rehearsals begin Monday, June 4 and performances open Friday, July 13, running the last three weekends of the month. The company is also looking for a skilled set construction supervisor and set designer; both are paid positions. Contact the director for details.
