Hackettstown James W. McCracken of Fredon Township was recently named executive director of The House of the Good Shepherd, a continuing care retirement community. McCracken replaces Fred Heleine, who announced his retirement earlier this year. “I am looking forward to working with the residents, staff and the community at-large,” said McCracken. “There are so many good things about the house, from the wonderful residents to the dedicated staff.” McCracken added. McCracken had been the administrator of Bristol Glen, a retirement care community in Newton, for the past six years. He is also a volunteer with the Fredon Township Fire Company and is deputy coordinator of the Fredon Township Office of Emergency Management. Involved in civic matters, McCracken is also active as the chairman of the Board of the 200 Club of Sussex County and is a member of the Newton Rotary Club, District 7470. He is also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton and has been involved in several leadership roles within that congregation. In March, 2003, McCracken was elected as a committeeman in Fredon Township, and in 2005 was selected to be deputy mayor.
