West Milford Parks and Recreation, Office of Older Adult Services, will be sponsoring an AARP Driver Safety Program from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 and Friday, Oct. 12. The program will be held at the Hillcrest Community Center, 1810 Macopin Road in room 10. The eight-hour course is taught in two-four hour sessions spanning two days and the cost is $10. Participants must complete both days. The course helps drivers refine existing skills and develop safe, defensive driving techniques. There are no tests and no behind-the-wheel activities. Upon completing the class, participants will be eligible to receive a state mandated three-year discount on auto insurance. Individual insurance companies should be contacted in regards to the amount of the discount. Participants may also be eligible to recover two points on their driving record. Call the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Department at 1-609-292-7500 to confirm the status of individual driving record. To register or for further information, call Gail Anderson, Office of Older Adult Services, at 973-728-2871.
