WEST MILFORD A West Milford man was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 1, after his wife appeared at the police station for help. Shortly after 1 p.m., Cynthia Carr, 33, reported her husband, 39-year-old Louis Carr Jr., threatened her with a semi-automatic pistol while she was in her car in the driveway of their Macopin Road home. The couple had just had an argument. He allegedly approached her, inserted a magazine into the pistol and pointed it at her. He then removed their 15-month old child from the car and went back into the house. After Cynthia Carr reported this incident, the West Milford Township Special Operations Unit was assembled and responded to the home to take Louis Carr into custody. After securing the house perimeter, several telephone and loudspeaker attempts to persuade Mr. Carr to come out of the home were unsuccessful. The team then approached the home, made contact, and convinced Mr. Carr to come out. He was taken into custody and transported to West Milford Police Headquarters without incident. The child was unharmed and did not appear affected by the incident. Several long guns and at least one handgun were recovered in a search of the premises. Mr. Carr is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose. All charges are indictable and carry serious penalties, which could total 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted. Mr. Carr was incarcerated in the Passaic County Jail and Judge James Murner set bail at $100,000.00, with no victim contact.
