Last year, Paradise Knolls sixth-grade students Lauren and Nicole spearheaded a schoolwide fundraiser for the “Save Darfur Coalition.” After conducting their own research and learning the conditions in Darfur, they turned their passion into action. Lauren and Nicole created fliers, visited classrooms, collected and recorded donations, and sent every contributor a thank you note. Within one month, they raised about $700.
