Recognition of police and their community service efforts were demonstrated by representatives of Our Lady Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus Council 6139 at a special Township of West Milford Council meeting recently.

Grand Knight Cliff Field and Knight John Buechel presented a carved wooden plaque that honors police. It is designed to be displayed publicly.

Patrolwoman Jill Brickman, who serves as PBA president, accepted the gift. Police Chief James Devore also was present for the presentation.

Field said it is important for people to know that police are still supported. One of the Knights of Columbus mottos states that the Knights stand shoulder to shoulder with their brothers and sisters of law enforcement.

At the top of the plaque side by side are the emblems of the West Milford Police Department and the Knights of Columbus. It states that Council 6139 supports and thanks the West Milford Police Department.

“All of the officers and support staff for your bravery, valor and continued dedication to keeping our community a safe place to live. Thank you to the WM PBA and its members for the support that you give to others. We respect and appreciate everything you do.”
