West Milford. Tales from the police blotter

    The following items are taken from the police reports provided by the West Milford Police Department:

    DWI - I

    On April 5, at 7:25 p.m. West Milford Police Dispatch was notified that a possible intoxicated driver was entering West Milford from Green Pond Road.

    The vehicle was described as a white Ford Mustang. Officer Petrucelli was nearby and positioned himself in an area to wait for the vehicle.

    A short time later Officer Petrucelli observed the Mustang pull on to Route 23 South from Green Pond Road.

    At the intersection of Route 23 and Old Route 23, Officer Petrucelli observed the Mustang roll backwards then pull forward unable to maintain a lane and initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the driver Joseph Lanzo, 29 of Newfoundland, NJ.

    While speaking to Lanzo, Officer Petrucelli observed signs of intoxication.

    After failing the standard field sobriety tests, Lanzo was placed under arrest for DWI. He was transported and processed. Lanzo was charged additionally with Careless Driving, Improper Backing, Failure to Maintain Lane, Improper display of Plates, and Failure to exhibit driver’s license. He was released to a friend pending initial appearance in West Milford Municipal Court.

    DWI - II

    On April 20, at 3:55 PM Officer Michael Weber was dispatched to 9 Marshall Hill Road for a motor vehicle crash in the parking lot.

    On his arrival to the area Officer Weber located the vehicles involved and spoke to the initial caller who stated she was pulling out of a parking space when her vehicle was struck by the other vehicle while it was pulling in to a space. Officer Weber made contact with the other driver, Howard Levine 51, Hewitt, NJ.

    While speaking to Levine, Officer Weber observed signs of intoxication. After failing standard field sobriety tests Levine was placed under arrest for DWI.

    He was transported and processed. Levine was charged additionally with Reckless Driving. He was released to a family member pending initial appearance in West Milford Municipal Court
