West Milford Sir Walter Lindal, founder and chairman emeritus of Lindal Cedar Homes, honored Rea and Dan Lippner with a Lindal Founder’s Circle Award at their Lindal model home on Ridge Road in West Milford. The Lippners own Ridgetop Builders, Inc., in West Milford. Lindal told the guests how he founded the company 62 years ago and shared highlights of the history of the first and largest manufacturer of custom cedar homes in the world. “Ridgetop Builders has designed and been responsible for sunrooms and homes throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and beyond for over 15 years,” said Lindal. “They have been responsible for punctuating mountains and fields, ponds, lakes and farms with homes featuring Lindal’s signature expanses of glass and long spans of open space permitted by our post and beam building system. We can achieve such architectural silhouettes because posts, not interior walls, support a roof’s weight,” added Lindal, who, at 88, still loves his work. “Many people have never built a home before and would like a coach to help them through some or all of the design and building processes,” said Rea Lippner. “At Ridgetop Builders, our expertise and passion is to help homebuyers translate their lifestyles into a home. In guiding our clients through the design and building of their custom homes one of their most valuable assets we feel we provide an essential service. “Many Lindal homebuyers are environmentally conscientious. The brand’s natural materials appeal to them. These include energy efficient windows and doors as well as roof and wall systems that go beyond standard R factors. In addition, Lindal’s kiln-dried lumber and architectural beams are not readily available at local lumberyards and its western red cedar is weather and insect-resistant, providing exceptional insulation. The Lippners will conduct a seminar at their model home on September 29 covering topics relating to custom home building ranging from how to select a building site and highlights of custom home design to key questions to ask a contractor.
