Oak Ridge -Traditional Welsh, Irish, Cornish and Scottish Christmas and Winter music will be performed at the Jefferson Township Public Library, 1031 Weldon Road in Oak Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8. The program is open to the public, and admission is free. Jodee James performs on guitar and vocals, accompanied by Susan Lembo on guitar and Arlene Muzyka on percussion. Enjoy Wassail songs, Saint Stephen Day songs, “Mari Lwyd” songs (honoring the mysterious grey mare going house to house,) and New Year songs while learning about the Celtic winter solstice customs, druids and mistletoe, the battle between the oak king and the holly king, how the animals talk on Christmas Eve and more. Jodee’s voice is “touching and intimate” and she “brings new energy to the music of Wales and other Celtic lands.” Join us for a Winter Solstice celebration at the Jefferson Township Public Library. The hour-long performance will be followed by light refreshments. Reservations are requested. To reserve, or for more information, call the library at 973-208-6115 or e-mail cobrien@main.morris.org.
