Arts & Heritage Council opens new exhibit

Newton - The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, 9 Moran St, Newton, launched its new monthly theme exhibit of works by local talents, titled “Artists Choice, .with an opening reception on April. Included are works by David Magyar, Laura Dempsey, Gregory Pavlic, Judith Hornstra, Eileen Stanbridge and Susan Hammond. Over 60 pieces on display, including work done in pastel, photography, oil, computer art, sculpture and college plus portfolio pieces for sale. The council has extended the ongoing special exhibit, titled “Master Works,” by Cynthia Bowles, painter, pastelist, illustrator and author, through April 25. In addition, young artist Jessica Jones will exhibit her photo-realist style of painting nature through April 25 in the gallery window. Next months theme, “The Garden of Earthly Delights” will run from May 6 through June 15 and will coincide with the council’s annual “Town and Country Garden Tour” scheduled for Saturday, June 3. The council is still accepting entries for the 19th Skylands juried show and sale. The deadline for entries is April 28. Skylands will run from June 23 through July 29.
