Arts on display at the Highland club

    HIGHLAND LAKES—On Sunday, Aug. 27, Highland Lakes will hold its 47th summer art show at the Highland Lakes Clubhouse. The Show includes both a professional and amateur exhibit by Highland Lakes artists. The show runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and is open for viewing to the public. Admission is free. Artwork, crafts and photography created by Highland Lakes residents of all ages will be on display in the main clubhouse. In the amateur division of the show, crafts, quilts, photography, needlework, and artwork in a myriad of media are among the approximately 200 entries submitted each year. Professional artists, photographers, and crafters from within the Highland Lakes community and neighboring areas judge the entries. At the show´s conclusion, gifts and ribbons are awarded to the winners within each art category and age group. The professional art exhibit in the club´s lake room on Sunday includes the work of many Highland Lakes professional artists, including award-winning artists Joan Ross and Winnie O´Dougherty. Fine art paintings and prints, crafts, photography, stained glass, and sculpture will be on display and available for purchase in the lake room. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
