Stanhope - Folk-rock duo Aztec Two Step will perform “The Simon & Garfunkel Songbook” at 9 p.m. Friday, March 24, at Stanhope House 45 Main St., in Stanhope. Tickets are $20. When Aztec Two-Step (Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman) burst upon the scene in the 1970s, their “East Coast sensibilities,” “intellectual lyricism,” and “ethereal harmonies” reminded reviewers of their predecessors, Simon & Garfunkel. Aztec Two-Step continues to be one of acoustic music’s most enduring acts: This year they are celebrating their 35th anniversary. Among the Simon & Garfunkel songs they will perform include “59th Street Bridge,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Cecelia,” “I Am a Rock,” “Mrs. Robinson,” and “Sounds of Silence.” Aztec Two-Step still tours primarily with their original material, and in 2005 the they released their eighth studio album, Days of Horses.
