Belly dance to aid homeless shelter

LAFAYETTE - The Champagne Girls, a non-profit organization of dancers devoted to helping others, will hold the “Spring Into Motion” charity fund-raiser at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the VFW Post, 69 Carey Ave., off of Route 23 in Butler. Many of the best belly dancers in New Jersey will be performing to raise funds for Eva’s Homeless Shelter in Paterson. Tickets are $10. Sherri Van Houten, founder and leader of the troupe, is an ordained minister with a masters in theology. She says her ministry and her calling are “to help others through the joy of dance.” Van Houten also teaches philosophy at Sussex Community College and belly dancing at several locations.
