Layton - The Big Bandingo outdoor music festival, featuring eight bands including the Sussex County band Big Boss Sausage, is coming to the Layton Bar & Grill in Layton on Saturday, July 15. Along with the music, the all-day event will feature various competitions including a “pie-athlon” pie-eating contest and a “tug-o-peace” competition. The Big Bandingo is presented by the same people who put together the Rampage On The River Festival and the Halloween Super Bash. “I know it’s going to be kooky fun, this is the one shindig to hit this summer”, claims Mingo Lodge, guitarist and vocalist for the Big Boss Sausage. The music will be a wide cross section of local performers. Big Boss Sausage, a three-piece rock, folk, punk, country band will play songs from its new CD, “Which Came First?” “We’ll do some hot ditties from our upcoming CD too,” added Mingo. In six years the band has been back and forth from Key West, Fla. to Vermont five times. Selections of their music are available online at www.myspace.com/bigbosssausage. The Brian McLoughlin Band, a dynamic jam band from Pennsylvania, will play songs from its debut CD, “Blur,” which was named one of the top 100 albums of 2005 by Upstage Radio & Magazine. McLoughlin is a songwriter and a favorite on the East Coast circuit. Another band on the bill is the Infamous Blues Band from Ausable Forks, N.Y. The trio is led by Adam Garrow, guitarist, vocalist and co-writer and feeds off his intense, Hendrix-driven guitar playing and vocal styling. The passionate songs are written with Brian Delacy, drummer and foundation of the band. Dirt Road 14 is best described as strong, subtle, acoustic folk rock. Since Ryan Bleck initially cut Dirt Road 14 through the wilderness in 2004, the trio has been truckin’ down that thoroughfare to perform his passionate tales of loss, desire and hope throughout the tri-state area. “I can’t get enough of these guys, so down to earth, they’re fantastic,” says Ed Martell, a fan from Dingman’s Ferry, Pa. The Natural Breakdown is an up and coming band out of New Brunswick, that plays an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, bluegrass, classic rock, and Afro-Cuban. Other acts slated to perform are Blue Soul featuring Tommy Shaw, Chuck Fantasia, Dave Bryson, Billy Lyons and Blue Smoke as well as some surprise performances. The Layton Bar is located at 124 Rt. 560 in Layton. No pets or coolers are allowed at the event. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. They can be purchased at the Layton Bar & Grill, the Dairy Bar on W. Harford St. in Milford, Pa., Moe’st Everything Muse on Rt. 209, Marshall’s Creek, Pa., and by calling Rampage Entertainment at 973-875-2711 or 570-588-7792.
