Chabad hosting wine tasting, announces holiday schedule and Hebrew school

HASKELL— Join Chabad of Upper Passaic County for their third annual Kaballah and Wine Tasting event. The evening will explore the path of Kabbalah toward inner joy, "How Can I Become a Happier Person?" with renowned Kaballah lecturer Rabbi YY Jacobson. Enjoy the tasting of fine Kosher wines with wine connoisseur Mike Ryan.

The event will take place Thursday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. The event is open to the entire Jewish community. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Sponsorships are available for $180.

Holiday schedule announced
The Chabad announced its High Holiday services with Rabbi Mendy Gurkov.

Rosh Hashanah services will take place Wednesday evening, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. with Shofar blowing, and Friday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. with Shofar blowing.

Yom Kippur services will take place Friday evening, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m., Yizkor Memorial services at 12 p.m., Neilah services at 6:30 p.m., followed by a break fast.

Services are open to the entire Jewish community, regardless of affiliation or background. There is no membership fee. At Chabad, everyone is a member.

Hebrew School begins in September

Chabad of Upper Passaic County announced that their Hebrew School will be opening for the second year, this year with classes for children ages five to 12. Hebrew School will begin in September and meet every Sunday for the duration of the scholastic year.

The goal is to offer all Jewish children an education and memories that will inspire them for a lifetime. Hebrew School provides an education that instills Jewish pride, a sense of history, and a genuine and meaningful understanding of Judaism.

Annual tuition is $495, which includes supplies/book fee. Synagogue membership is not required. It is open to all.
