Circus bring smiles and cheers

WEST MILFORD — The Kelly Miller Circus came to town last Sunday and certainly didn't disappoint those who went to the big top for one of the two shows that afternoon or earlier in the morning when the animals were introduced and fed.
Clowns, acrobats, gymnasts and a human volcano wowed the crowd with their talents, flexibility and strength. Camel and elephant rides were also available.
According to Highlands Economic Development And Tourism Corporation (HEAT) Vice Chairman Paul Zarrillo, the first show at 2 p.m. was nearly sold out, with the 5 p.m. show about half filled, which is what is expected. In all, about 1,700 people came out to watch the family-friendly circus, Zarrillo said. This is the non-profit group's biggest fundraiser.
There were plenty of circus snacks, including cotton candy, popcorn, snowcones and hot dogs. And of course smiles and memories.
This was the second year in a row that HEAT brought the circus to town, thanks in large part to the local sponsors.
