Newton Spend a historic night with Civil War Enthusiast friends at the Tuesday, Feb. 20 meeting of Colonel Henry Ryerson Civil War Round Table, which begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. In celebration of Lincoln’s Birthday, the Colonel Henry Ryerson Civil War Round Table is thrilled to have President Lincoln, himself, as guest speaker. Considered by many historians to be the greatest American president, Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, guided our country through the most devastating experience in its national history-The Civil War. Abraham Lincoln (as portrayed by Robert Costello) has appeared at countless Living History events, spoken at schools and civic organizations, and at other Civil War Roundtables. Costello has also been a civil war reenactor for over 15 years. He is a member of the 3rd New Jersey having recently transferred from the 2nd Rhode Island. In the 2nd Rhode Island, he served as a 1st Lieutenant and with the 3rd New Jersey he has taken on the roll as Military Chaplin. He has participated in reenactments ranging from large-scale events such as Gettysburg, First Battle of Bull Run and Antietam, to small intimate Living History encounters. Costello is a member of the Robert E. Lee Roundtable in Woodbridge and the North Jersey Civil War Roundtable in Morristown. So come meet, greet and ask questions of Mr. Lincoln and be transported for a few hours back to the Civil War. The Colonel Henry Ryerson Civil War Round Table provides educational programs, tours, and fellowship for individuals interested in the Civil War Era. Meetings are held at the Theater (D-Building), at the Sussex County Community College in Newton and are free and open to the public.
