Hamburg —“The John Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund” has been established at Wallkill Valley Regional High School, in memory of John Gregory Wright, who lost his life in a car accident on June 14. John would have graduated from high school in June of next year. The John Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund will present a scholarship award annually to a senior at Wallkill who is trying hard to succeed and truly needs the financial support and assistance to earn his or her college degree. John tutored young people having trouble with math and general study courses and would be proud to extend this assistance to a fellow student. Dance Expression Dance Arts, parents and alumni will sponsor a Benefit Dance Concert, “The Way You Make Me Feel,” at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9, at Wallkill Valley Regional High School. All proceeds from the performance will go directly to the scholarship fund. John Wright was a Dance Expression student and Dance Company member for more than 10 years, winning top awards and accolades for his athletic and inspiring performances at regional and national competitions. “John was an exceptional young man; spirited, kind hearted, intelligent and considerate. His loss is still incomprehensible ... so we honor his memory by making the best contribution to his legacy that we can,” says Lisa Schumann, director of Dance Expression Dance Arts. “Please share in the wonderful memories, enjoy inspired performances and make a contribution to the future of an up and coming Wallkill Valley High School graduate by attending the Benefit Dance Concert.” Suggested attire for the performance is semi-formal. Tickets will be available at the door, with a $25 donation. For more information, call Dance Expressions dance arts at 973-823-9500. or Wallkill Valley Regional High School at 973-827-4100.
