Dance Expression team mines heavy metal at Clifton competition

Vernon - The Dance Expression Dance Company performed for the “Ticket to Broadway” Dance Competition” on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 in Clifton. The dancers were honored with the following: “A Chorus Line,” production number choreographed by Dance Expression director Lisa Simko, received a Platinum Award. “Love Shack” choreographed by Sharon Rauber was honored with the “Most Entertaining” Award and a Platinum Medal. Teen Soloist Caitlin Potosak of Vernon received the overall High Score Award for her modern solo “For Casey,” choreographed by Virginia Kennedy, and a Platinum Award for her Jazz solo, “Feeling Good.” Teen Soloist Megan Murdock of Hardyston received a Platinum Award and the “Ticket to Broadway” Award for outstanding performance for her solo “Beautiful Child” choreographed by Ellen McGovern. Caitlin Potosnak and Nicole and Colette DeGrezia of Vernon received a Platinum and the overall High Score for their Modern Trio, “La Canta de las Americas.” The Lyrical group, “Time After Time,” received a Platinum Award along with the overall High Score for a Teen Small Group. Katelyn McElkenny and Renea Rossi, both of Vernon, received a Platinum and the overall High Score Award for a Junior Duet/Trio for their duet “Shake Your Groove Thing” and Caitlin Potosnak and Tara Gasparovic of Vernon were awarded a Platinum Award for their jazz duet, “Never Did Nothin.” Other Platinum Awards included the Jazz Group “Agua” and the Modern group “Hymn to Sacred Hills.” High Gold Awards were received by: Samantha Chastain of Vernon for her Jazz Solo “Destination Anywhere;” Katelyn McElkenny for her Jazz Solo, “Build Me Up Buttercup;” Leanna Grennan of Hardyston for her Jazz Solo, “Lonely at the Top;” Brittany Pakestein of Wantage for her Jazz Solo, “Life of the Party;” Rebecca Beltramine of Hardyston for her Modern Solo, “Here Comes the Sun,” Ashley Whelan of Stockholm for her Modern Solo, “Everything in it’s Right Place;” Keara Jenkins of Wantage and Rebecca Beltramine for their Jazz Duet, “What I Like About You;” Brianna Smith of Vernon and Brittany Pakestein for their Jazz duet, “Personal Jesus;” Samantha Chastain, Deena Spaner of Wantage and Brielle Crowe of Vernon for their Hip Hop Trio, “We Run This;” LeighAnn Lorenzetti and Rachel Nass of Hardyston and Shelby Drake of Vernon for their Modern trio, “Shiny Happy People;” and Megan Murdock and Kaleigh Hayes of Wantage for their Modern Duet, “Allegra.” Groups to receive High Gold Awards include “Seussical,” “One Rhythm,” “Only You,” “Everyday,” “Breakdown” and Rainforest Blues” The dancers included: Karina Velez, Colette DeGrezia, Nicole DeGrezia, Caitlin Potosnak, Morgan Parker, Adrianna Velez, Ashley Whelan, Tara Gasparovic, LeighAnn Kabatra, Gina Forder, Tina Forder, Chloe Jaretsky, Deena Spaner, Rachel Nass, Samantha Chastain, Morgan Tarantino, Shelby Drake, Katelyn McElkenny, Megan Murdock, Leanna Grennan, Kaleigh Hayes, Michelle Imparato, Brielle Crowe, LeighAnn Lorenzetti, Brittany Pakestein, Brianna Smith, Keara Jenkins, Renea Rossi, Rebecca Beltramine, Samantha Lorenzetti, Stephanie Montemurro, Erin Garrity and Maria Iacopelli.
