Explore the birds, butterflies and plants

Members of the Bergen County Audubon Society will lead a Nature Walk to explore the birds, butterflies and plants in the New Jersey State Botanical Garden on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. It is an easy walk in the garden and fields. Perhaps you’ll encounter a red-winged blackbird, as shown here, one of the area’s most colorful denizens as the group identifies some of the many birds, butterflies and plants that call NJBG home. This program free and is sponsored by the NJBG/Skylands Association, the official support group for the State Botanical Garden. Wear comfortable shoes and meet at the Carriage House Visitor Center. Rain cancels the walk. NJBG/Skylands is located on Morris Road in Ringwood. For an event schedule, membership brochure, directions or more information, call 973-962-9534 or visit njbg.org.
