OGDENSBURG — Make a reservation to dig for fossils at the Sterling Hill Mining Museum on Saturday, June 23.

This fun and educational event will be held regularly this summer on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Dr. James Brown, PhD, is the guide and instructor for this activity. Participants could find up to 10 different types of fossils but get to take just six of them home.

A general identification chart is provided and visitors can ask questions of the museum's paleontologist.

The event repeats every half hour beginning at 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for a fee of $4.50 per individual. Each session is limited to 25 people. The last session at 12:30 p.m. is not recommended for large groups who also intend to take the mine tour at 1 p.m.

Reservations in advance are appreciated for groups of three or more. Groups of 10 or more may reserve other time slots by appointment. During the summer, groups of 15 or more can reserve any day of the week pending staff availability. To make a reservation, call 973-209-7212.
