WEST MILFORD Have you ever wanted to try a self defense class but just wasn't sure about it? Here is an opportunity for the entire family to try a free self defense workshop right here in West Milford.
Dan Kairaitis, a 7th degree black belt and Olympic medalist in Judo for the former Soviet Union, and John Brennan, who has studied under Kairaitis for 10 years and is a black belt himself, are hosting a family self defense workshop at St. Joseph Church, Koch Hall, on Monday, March 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Brennan, who has ties to West Milford through family and friends, said he and Kairaitis are starting Highlander Martial Arts with classes and workshops currently forming.
Kairaitis, who would be the head instructor, already owns and runs a studio in Clark. Brennan has been his student for a decade and would be his assistant instructor. The two felt West Milford would be a perfect place to open a Karate dojo.
