    NEWTON - Karl Latham, Mark Egan and John Hart will be making a return appearance of their popular trio at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Bula World Cuisine in Newton. Egan is one of the most respected and in-demand electric bassists on the music scene today, with credits on three platinum and three gold albums. A member of the original Pat Metheny Group, Egan has also recorded and performed with Sting; Arcadia; the Gil Evans Orchestra; David Sanborn, and John McLaughlin, among many other renowned performers. He also has appeared in many movies and television shows. Hart, guitarist and composer, is featured on six CDs as a leader and has appeared on some 60 CDs as a sideman. He has played at many international major jazz festivals, and on many television and radio shows. He has performed and/or recorded with Jack McDuff, Lou Donaldson, James Moody, Jon Hendricks, Javon Jackson, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, Joey Defranscesco, Harvie Swartz, Jaki Byard, Ira Sullivan, Clark Terry, David “Fathead” Newman, Hank Crawford, and other jazz greats. He has also appeared on a number of pop recordings, and sound tracks for television, including HBO’s “Sex in the City.” During the late 1980s he was a member of the house band at the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. Local resident Latham recently returned from two tours in Europe with the Wolfgang Lackerschmid and the Johannes Mössinger N.Y. Trio (special guest Don Braden). He has performed and/or recorded with numerous artists including the John Lee Quartet, Slide Hampton, Clark Terry, Jon Faddis, Claudio Roditi, and Randy Brecker. “Nu Love,” the most recent release by the Johannes Mossinger N.Y. Trio, has just become available in the U.S. Latham is also the house drummer with the 18-piece Richie Cecere Orchestra in Montclair. In addition to his performances, he is chairman of the Sparta Cultural Affairs Committee and is an adjunct professor at Passaic County Community College and CCM.
