Netcong - The Growing Stage Theatre, located in the historic Palace Theatre on Rte. 183 in Netcong, will hold auditions for its musical production of Junie B. Jones & A Little Monkey Business. Needed is an African-American actress, 18 - 30 years of age, who can bring the enthusiasm of a young child into the role of “That Grace.” “That Grace” is described by the playwright as an African-American with “automatically curly hair and fast feet.” Auditions will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22. Those auditioning will be asked to have a prepared 16-measure song, with sheet music for the accompanist. Everyone auditioning will sing, learn a short dance step, and will be requested to read from the script. The Growing Stage is a professional member theatre of the Association of Actor’s Equity. While the auditions are open to non-members and EMC candidates, this will be a paid Equity role under the TYA Tier B contract. The production of Junie B. Jones & A Little Monkey Business opens Jan. 20 and runs to Feb. 12, with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 4 p.m. on Sundays.
