Growing Stage to host 'Nutcracker' auditions

    Netcong — The Growing Stage, The Children’s Theatre of New Jersey, in Netcong, will hold auditions for its holiday production of "The Story of the Nutcracker," on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. Auditions are for young men and women, age 10 and older. Roles are available for dancers and The Nutcracker Prince. Those auditioning will be reading from the script and learning a short dance routine. The production is under the direction of the company’s founder and executive director, Steve Fredericks. The Growing Stage’s original adaptation transforms the classic holiday ballet into a fully formed theatrical production, laced with the music of Tchaikovsky. The production opens Nov. 24 and runs to Dec. 23, with performances on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. The Growing Stage is located in the historic Palace Theatre, on Rte. 183 in Netcong. For each production, all roles are open and the Growing Stage adheres to a non-traditional casting policy.
