Warwick,- The Illustrious Theatre Company will host “An Illustrious Revel,” described as “a merry gathering” to benefit its Shakespeare in the Orchard series at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery in Warwick, N.Y. The company, now in its fourth theatre season at the winery, is best known in the region for its popular outdoor Shakespeare productions. This July the company will be presenting Romeo and Juliet. The gala will feature the epicurean skills of Michael DeMartino and Katherine Grizzanti, chefs of a new restaurant opening at the winery this spring. As part of the Renaissance theme of the evening, a string ensemble from Vernon High School will be part of the entertainment, and guests have the option of dressing in contemporary clothing or Elizabethan garb. Honorary chairman of the event is Ira Levin, playwright and author, best known for Rosemary’s Baby, Deathtrap, and The Steppford Wives, who will attend the gala. Levin made a surprise visit to the winery earleir this year to attend the company’s production of his play, Veronica's Room. Tickets for the gala are $50 in advance or $60 at the door. All proceeds will benefit this summer's production of Romeo and Juliet. To receive an invitation packet or for more information, send e-mail to theitc@warwick.net or call 973-764-4936.
