Parishioners of St. Monica’s Parish in Sussex on Sunday, July 16, enjoyed an ice cream social. The gathering was one of a series of monthly events in celebration of the parish’s 125th Anniversary. In June, the parish held a “Pig Roast,” which included several hours of country line dancing led by “Butch and Bonnie” of Sussex. More than 150 people turned out for the ice cream social, which was planned and coordinated by JoAnn Horvath and Camille Kornutick. A special appearance by the Women’s Barbershop Quartet “High Hopes” gave the day an old-fashioned flavor. Pictured are the event coordinators, the quartet and parishioners enjoying some cool ice cream on a very hot day.
