Photos by Rosa Kasper Hardyston celebrated the weekend by holding its first parade in twenty years. The Inspection Day event brought fire companies, bands and marching units from throughout the county and neighboring states and counties. Wantage won a trophy for best tanker in the parade, while the Highland Lakes Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary won for best small auxiliary unit. Sussex Borough took home trophies for best large auxiliary and best appearing ambulance. The Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department’s 1954 Ward-LaFrance truck also won a first-place award. The parade closed Route 94 in Hardyston during the middle of the day. It terminated near the township’s new municipal building, scheduled to open shortly on Wheatsworth Road.
