Newton Mark Egan, John Hart and Karl Latham will be performing creative modern jazz on March 9 at the Bula B-Lounge in Newton. With three platinum and three gold albums to his credit, Egan has recorded with the likes of the Pat Metheny Group, Sting, Arcadia, Roger Daltry and Joan Osborne. In 1977, he joined the Pat Metheny Group and remained a long-time member. Among his many accomplishments, Egan performed on the quintessential “Pat Metheny Group” recording with Danny Gottlieb, and Lyle Mays, as well as the group’s renowned recording “American Garage.” Through his association with the Pat Metheny Group, Egan teamed up with Metheny drummer, Danny Gottlieb and formed the group Elements. While Mark continues to work with Elements and hold down the chair in the Gil Evans Orchestra, his solo projects represent a more personal side of his musical makeup. The other members of Unit One are guitarist John Hart and drummer Karl Latham. The music sets are Fridays 7 to 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 to 10 p.m. There is no cover charge, but a $10 minimum is required on music evenings. Student discount is available.
