Jefferson Community Players meet Feb. 20

    Jefferson - The next meeting of the Jefferson Community Players will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, in the “all purpose room” of the Jefferson municipal building, at 1033 Weldon Rd. The meeting is open to anyone interested in community theater. The group is seeking volunteers for on-stage and backstage roles as it prepares for its summer production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music. Opening night will be Friday, July 28, with a matinee and evening performance following on Saturday, July 29, and subsequent evening performances on Friday, Aug. 4, and Saturday, Aug. 5. All performances will be held in the auditorium of the Jefferson High School on Weldon Road. Auditions for on-stage roles will be scheduled and announced within the next two to three months. Those interested in backstage opportunities, such as set design and construction, costumes, production, props, sound, lighting, choreography, playbill and ticket design, etc., are invited to get involved now. Group members are also exploring other options, including theatrical workshops for children as well as adults, dramatic readings, one-act plays, small scale productions, dinner theater, cabarets, etc. For more information, call 973-697-7863 or 973-697-6732.
