Lake Hopatcong - The Jefferson Arts Committee will host its second annual Lake Hopatcong Boat Parade on Father’s Day — Sunday, June 18. Participation in the parade is free and open to all boaters. The only parade requirements are that all boats must have motors able to maintain the parade speed of five mph and must maintain a minimum of two boat lengths distance between participating boats. Although decorations are not required, participants are encouraged to decorate their boats in a “Welcome to Summer” theme. The parade will start at the north end of the lake (off the Mason Street Pub) and all participating boats are asked to congregate there by 11 a.m. The parade will take approximately two hours. The route will pass under the Brady Bridge, proceed along the western shore to Bertram’s Island, and then return along the eastern shore to end at the Lake Forest Yacht Club. Due to the height restrictions, sailboats are asked to join the parade, under power, on the south side of Brady Bridge. Prizes will be awarded for three categories — best decorated, best classic and most original. Judging will be done at the reviewing stand at the Lake Forest Yacht Club. Participants are invited to gather at the Yacht Club after the parade for the awarding of prizes. Refreshments will be available. Due to limited dock space, participants are requested to travel to the Yacht Club via car after the parade. For information, call 973-697-8898 or send e-mail to gdamerel@yahoo.com.
