Blairstown - The windows of Gallery 23 will feature the work of jewelers, Larry Berger and Susan Marie David in July. The artists’ reception will be on Saturday, July 21st from noon to 5 p.m. Larry Berger is a silversmith and lapidary. He received his training at William Holland School of Lapidary Arts and at Peters Valley Craft Education Center and the Studio at Corning Museum of Glass. Berger is a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and is incorporating handmade lampworked and fused glass beads in his designs. The inspiration for Berger’s jewelry comes from the traditional American southwest. He begins by selecting high quality natural gemstone rough materials and then designing and cutting each stone to enhance its natural beauty. Next he designs and fabricates a setting sterling silver setting to showcase the stone. The final step is to polish the stone and silver. Susan Marie David, has designed a collection of artistic semi-precious silver and gold jewelry. She won an award at Art Across the River 2005 for a double-strand black and gold, coral necklace. David uses unusual mixes of mediums and textures in designing her jewelry. She may match silver with sea shells, antique crystals with fine silver or gold wire, peridot with pearls, or string up to five strands of various stones into a one-of-a-kind statement necklace. Every piece of jewelry is unique. Gallery 23, an artist co-op, is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.. For more information, call (908) 362-6865.
