Library sponsors two summer concerts

    OAK RIDGE - The Jefferson Township Gazebo Committee recently announced the dates for its 2006 summer concert series, which includes two concerts sponsored by the Jefferson Twp.Public Library. Sunset Soundz, playing music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, popular standards, some country, and even some of today’s “top 40” hits, will perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Gazebo. Then at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Gazebo, the James L. Dean Big Band will perform a wide variety of styles, from 40’s swing to rock standards. The Victorian-style Gazebo is located in the Jefferson Twp. Municipal Complex on Weldon Road in Oak Ridge, and the concerts are approximately two hours in length. The two library-sponsored concerts, as well as the June 25 performance of Scoot on Down, the July 9 performance of the Larry Stevens Band, and the July 30 performance of the Wheels, are all free to the public and easily accessible from Routes 23, 15, and 80, as well as Espanong Road and Dover Milton Road. Attendees should bring blankets/chairs for comfort and are welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. Dancing on the new paver brick extension area around the Gazebo, as well as the lawn, is encouraged. For information and/or directions, call 973-697-1946.
