WEST MILFORD Sandra L Dorrbecker, a resident of West Milford NJ for 47 years, is being honored at the NJ Quilt Convention, as the New Jersey All Star. Sandra, an accomplished quilter and writer, is a National Quilting Assoc. Certified Quilting Judge and Teacher. Dorrbecker made her first quilt in 1971. She makes and designs quilted garments as well as quilts. She has been teaching and lecturing on quilting topics since 1989. She received her National Quilting Association certification for teaching in 1990 and NQA certification for judging in 1994, and has been working nationally and traveling ever since. She has worked for two national magazines freelancing as a technical editor and a writer. Her work has been seen in Traditional Quilter Magazine, Threads, County Living, Patchwork Quilt Senka (Japan), Quilting International, Quilters Newsletter Magazine, and Quiltmaker Magazine. Dorrbecker is an award winning quilter, in both hand and machine work. Her garment and quilts have won national awards, and she has been invited to design for the Fairfield Fashion Show, DMC Thread Company, and RJR Fashion Fabrics. Her quilts have traveled to trade shows all over the world. The NJ Quilt Convention will take place June 7-9 at the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Edison, N.J. More than 500 quilts and garments are expected to compete in a judged competition featuring cash prizes, workshops, lectures, vendors, appraisals, and many special show events.
