Oak Ridge The diverse lineup of programs at the Jefferson Township Public Library this winter should motivate the public to get out - and they won’t even have to put up with traffic to get here. On Sunday, Jan. 7, all are invited to the library’s Mini Foreign Film Festival. Take some time after the busy holiday season to sit back and enjoy movies not usually shown in local theaters. The popcorn’s on us. “Men at Work” (Iran), in Farsi with English subtitles, which tells the hilarious story of four old friends who encounter a strange and enormous rock, will be shown at 1:10 p.m. “Be With Me” (Singapore), in various languages with English subtitles, a tapestry of three stories woven around the themes of love, hope and destiny will be shown at 2:35 p.m. “Monster Thursday” (Norway), in Norwegian with English subtitles, a quirky romantic drama in a surfing environment in remote coastal Norway, will be shown at 4:10 p.m. “One Minute for Myself,” on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m., will provide quick and easy ways to de-stress and simplify life. Presented by Dari Dyrness-Olsen, a motivational counselor. On Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m., Carolyn King, a member of Therapy Dogs International, will visit the library will her therapy dog, an Australian Shepherd named Tippie, to present, “Understanding the Work of Therapy Dogs.” Come and learn about the wonderful work done by these special animals.
