Vernon - Mountain Creek has announced the return of two national events, the Burton “super demo” and rail jam, and the Mid-Atlantic Snowboard Series. The “super demo,” the largest product demo in the snowboard world, will be at Mountain Creek Feb. 24-26 as part of a nationwide tour of 10 resorts. Throughout the demo, guests will be able to test custom gear for free, including Burton boards, boots and bindings. The “sponsor village” will also offer goods from participating sponsors. To kick off the demo, Burton will host a free on-snow jam session starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, for riders of all ability levels who wish to try their rail riding skills in a non-competitive atmosphere. On-site registration will begin at 5 p.m. at the main park entrance on Vernon Peak. Prizes and giveaways will be provided by Burton. For skiers and riders interested in a more competitive venue, Mountain Creek will host the USASA-supported Mid-Atlantic Snowboard Series on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and Feb. 26. The two-day slopestyle and superpipe competition will be held for riders trying to increase their point totals en-route to the 2006 USASA Nationals to be held March 25 through April 1 in Tahoe, Calif. Although skiers will not be competing for the Nationals, they are welcome to join in the event. The series will include two slopestyle competitions on Kyber Trail on Saturday, Feb. 25, and two halfpipe competitions on the superpipe on Sunday, Feb. 26. Registration for both competitions will be held in the training room located next to guest services at the Vernon base area’s Cobblestone Village. A $20 entrance fee is required; Mountain Creek will offer discounted lift tickets to all competitors. Individuals who would like to join in this event must also be a USASA member and may sign up for temporary memberships online at snowboardseries.com.
