This November, New Jersey-based children’s author Diana Tuorto will release a new book, “Spirit of the Saluda River.” As with her earlier novels, the story is told from a horse’s point of view. This time, however, the book is written for a younger audience (ages six to eight). “Spirit of the Saluda River” is based on the true story of this blind 20 plus year old Shetland pony who was abandoned and stranded on an island in South Carolina’s Saluda River.
