Operation Medication Awareness is Oct. 11

    Whippany - The Sussex County Division of Senior Services would like to invite seniors to Operation Medication Awareness. This free program will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Birchwood Manor, Whippany. For the past 25 years Operation Medication Awareness has provided seniors with an opportunity to meet with physicians and pharmacists and attend educational sessions designed to help seniors improve their quality of life. This year 75 pharmacists and pharmacy students have volunteered to participate in this worthwhile event. The day begins with a complimentary continental breakfast and exhibits that include give-a-ways. In addition, the following brief educational sessions will be presented, primarily, by physicians and pharmacists: Exercise and Weight Control, Value of Medicine, Diabetes, Medication Safety, Preventing Vision Loss = Macular Degeneration, Medicare Part D, and Access to Medicine. The program will conclude with a complimentary lunch, where participants will have the opportunity to interact with pharmacists and pharmacy students and discuss concerns about medications and other health-related issues. Round-trip transportation is available for $5.00.
