Vernon - The Vernon PAL is offering a six-week “Mommy and Me” program for pre-school children ages two through four, and a separate, four-week program for toddlers from 12 months to 24 months old. The PAL is also sponsoring an after-school “Mad Science” program for elementary school students in the second through fourth grades. Mommy and Me for ages two through four provides an opportunity for moms to spend enjoyable time with their children and to meet other moms and their children. The program, which will be held at the Vernon PAL building, will include free play, songs, dance, body movements, exercise, crafts and story time. Cost is $52 for six one-hour sessions. Mommy and Me is limited to the first 15 registrations received. Parents may register for either of two sessions. Session one will be held from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 17. Session two will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Fridays, beginning Jan. 20. Mommy and Me for ages 12 months through 24 months will feature songs, stories, arts and crafts and play with other toddlers and their moms in a safe, interactive environment. Session one will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on four Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 1. Session two will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Fridays, beginning Feb. 3. Cost is $18 for four one-hour sessions. Sessions will be held in the PAL building on Church St. The Mad Science program for students in second through fourth grades will take place at their schools at the end of the regular school day. Time for both Cedar Mountain and Rolling Hills is 3:30 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. Parents must pick up their child at the school no later than 4:40 p.m. Cost is $75 until Feb. 4, $90 if received after Feb. 4.
