Newton - Sussex County Community College will present singer/songwriter Patrick Fitzsimmons at 6:45 p.m. tonight (Thursday, June 15) on the Connor Green on the campus of the college, located at One College Hill Rd. in Newton. Admission is free and the public is invited. The concert will be held rain or shine. Attendees are requested to bring their own blankets or chairs. Although Fitzsimmons currently lives in Burlington, Vt., he is originally from New Jersey and was signed to RCA Records with the folk/rock band From Good Homes in the late 1990s. Fitzsimmons moved to Vermont after the band broke up in 1999 and embarked on a solo career. He has since released three CDs on his own Itz Fitz label. Fitzsimmons has been touring the northeast, drawing enthusiastically attentive crowds with his soulful, captivating performances. “Thursdays on the Green” at Sussex County Community College will continue throughout the summer with an assortment of music and entertainment. Each performance begins at 6:45 p.m., with the exception of the August 16 program celebrating the 25th anniversary of the college, which will begin at 6 p.m. Refreshments are available for purchase, with proceeds from concession sales benefiting scholarships at the college.
