Sussex - Ted Swindley’s hit musical, Always Patsy Cline has returned to Tri-State Actors Theater in Sussex, running through April 30. Actors Equity Association members, Gwendolyn Walker and Suzanne Hayes are reunited on stage as Patsy Cline and Louise Seger. Always Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Seger, a Houston housewife. Seger first heard Cline on the “Arthur Godfrey Show” in 1957 and became an immediate and avid fan of Cline’s. In 1961 when Cline went to Houston for a show, Seger and her buddies arrived about an hour-and-a-half early and, by coincidence, met Cline who was traveling alone. The two women struck up a friendship that lasted until Cline’s untimely death in 1963. As Louise remembers their time together, Patsy and her band, The Bodacious Bobcats, perform many of the songs that made Cline famous. Jessica Arnold will lead the band as musical director and keyboard player. Other members of the band include Bud Angelotti on pedal steel guitar, Kyle Kudasik on guitar, Jeremy Stevens on fiddle, Ken Swinkin on drums, and Barry Wiesenfeld on bass. Public performances began with an open dress rehearsal on Wednesday night. April 12. A preview performance is scheduled for tonight (April 13), and all seats are $17. Reservations are recommended for all performances. Large print programs, wheelchair access and elevator service are available for patrons with special needs.
