Playhouse to hold auditions for ‘Dolly'

    Sparta — The Cornerstone Playhouse will hold open auditions for its summer production of “Hello Dolly!” on Thursday and Friday, May 17 and 18, at 7 a.m. and on Saturday, May 19 at 9 a.m. Auditions will held at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, in Sparta. Auditions will be for the following parts: Dolly, a meddling matchmaker of strikingly dramatic appearance, a widowin her middle years; Ernestine, a heavy-set girl in need of Dolly’s services; Ambrose Kemper, a young artist seeking to marry Ermengarde; Horace Vandergelder, proprietor of a Hay & Feed Store in Yonkers, a widower of some means; Ermengarde, the 17 year old niece of Horace Vandergelder; Cornelius Hackl, Vandergelder’s chief clerk, 33 years old; 7. Barnaby Tucker, an assistant to Cornelius, 17 years old; Minnie Fay, a young girl who works in Irene’s shop; Irene Molloy, a millineress whom Dolly has introduced to Vandergelder; Mrs. Rose, a vendor who sells veggies from a cart, Dolly’s friend from years past; Rudolph Reisenweber, the Prussian major-domo of the Harmonia Gardens; Stanley, Fritz, Harry, Louie, Danny, Manny & Hank - waiters from the Harmonia Gardens; First Cook, at the Harmonia Gardens, German accent; Second Cook; Judge, New York night court; various NYC policemen, court clerk-recorder and various other roles including paperhangers, townspeople, Yonkers Band, Lodge Members, Feed Store customers, Harmonia Gardens customers, polka contest contestants, and the 14th Street Parade Ensemble. The director for the show is Kathy Ziemann. Performance dates for “Hello, Dolly!” are as follows: July 26, 27 and 28 at 8 p.m., and July 29 at 2 p.m. For more information, call 973-729-2120.
