‘Professor Louie' highlights second Oxford Furnace Summer Festival

    Music, kids’ activities, museum tour featured OXFORD n Professor Louie and The Crowmatix, headline the 2nd Annual Oxford Furnace Summer Festival on Saturday, Aug. 11. Featured will be the Sarah Ayers Band. Oxford Township presents the all-day free event with a total of seven bands, vendors and food. Among the sponsors are EMBARQ, Warren County Community College, Finelli Consulting Engineers, Oxford Textile Industries, Rocky Ridge Driving Range, and the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department. The festival will be at the Oxford Fire Department, Route 31. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with music starting at noon. Parking is $5 per car. Woodstock-based Professor Louie and The Crowmatix have made several CDs and have been seen at BB Kings, The House of Blues, The Turning Point and many other major clubs. Sarah Ayers and her band are winners of many industry awards, including Best Original Band, Best All Around Performer and Best Female Vocalist. Their most recent CD, “cold, hard, dirty truth,” received excellent reviews. Additional acts include Paddy & the Pale Boys, Jam-Bone, Good Times Band, Phoenix Down and P.R.Y.D.E. The Oxford Youth Association will run some activities for children and there will be an antique car exhibit on the grounds. In addition, Shippen Manor will be open the day of the festival, from 12 to 4 p.m., offering tours to the public. Sponsorship opportunities and vendor space is still available.
