Newton —Project Self-Sufficiency of Sussex County and Domestic Abuse Services, Inc., will offer a legal seminar on family law topics including divorce, alimony, child support and visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, at Project Self-Sufficiency’s office, second floor, at 61 Spring St., Newton. The seminar is designed to help people who are contemplating divorce and to assist those already involved in the process to make informed decisions about such issues as support, division of property, child custody and visitation. The presenting attorney, Paris Eliades, Esq., is a partner with Daggett, Kraemer, Eliades, VanderWeile and Ursin in Sparta, which handles a wide variety of legal matters. A long-time volunteer for Project Self-Sufficiency, Mr. Eliades generously contributes time to the IOLTA Legal Assistance Program by conducting seminars and individual consultations. He is a Project Self-Sufficiency 2003 Mosaic Award winner for Volunteer Attorney of the Year. Project Self-Sufficiency provides its clients with a host of services, many of which are also open to the public. These programs include one-on-one consultations with area attorneys, a court accompaniment service, pro se divorce workshops, legal clinics for assistance with the preparation of family law motions, and the monthly legal forums. “We are fortunate to have a panel of distinguished attorneys from the area who donate their time and expertise to our seminar series,” said Deborah Berry-Toon, Project Self-Sufficiency’s Executive Director. “The topics we discuss at these seminars are relevant to many of the residents in our community, and the presentations give people the opportunity to learn more about the issues and to ask questions of an expert about their particular case.” Although the seminar is free and open to the public, registration is required.
