Reception precedes music on the Green

    Newton - Prior to the Thursday on the Green performance on June 28, Sussex County Community College will hold a 6 p.m. reception for Dr. Constance Mierendorf, the new president. The performance that follows at 6:45 is by Anthem, on the Connor Green, rain or shine. Anthem is comprised of rappers, producers, R & B singers, and old fashioned rock and rollers. Their latest CD “Are You Ready” came out earlier this year on Mack Avenue Records. The last three “Thursdays on the Green” performances are: July 5 - “Divine Strings” (14-Year Old South Indian Violinist with accompanist) July 12 - Zydeco-A-Go-Go (Zydeco Music) July 19 - Special Guest to be Announced “Thursdays on the Green” is supported by Lakeland Bank, Sussex Bank, James Alexander, and the Newton Rotary among other sponsors. All of the “Thursdays on the Green” performances are free and begin at 6:45 p.m. Refreshments are available for purchase, with proceeds from concession sales benefiting scholarships at the college.
