SUSSEX COUNTY-The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross recently held an orientation for incoming board members at Chapter Headquarters in downtown Newton. The attendees were able to talk to volunteers in all lines of service, from Disaster Services to Health and Safety Services, to learn more about how the Red Cross is in Sussex County neighborhoods everyday. One of the volunteers who spoke with the incoming Board members was George Arnot. Arnot is an officer with the Sussex County Sheriff's Department where one of his main responsibilities is to train officers in First Aid and CPR. He donates his time to the local Chapter, teaching the public the lifesaving skills as well. Arnot stated, "These programs are designed to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life. Red Cross Preparedness programs in first aid, CPR and AED are available for any age and can be tailored to the needs of specific groups and individuals. Whether you work with children, want training for employees, are a professional rescuer, or simply want to know how to help someone in an emergency, the American Red Cross has a program for you." This holiday season, gift certificates are available for any health and safety course.
